Course Content

Overview

Our Beginner Mandarin class is designed for young learners with little to no exposure to the Chinese language. Students will be introduced to basic Mandarin vocabulary, tones, and simple phrases through interactive activities, songs, and games. The emphasis is on making learning enjoyable and engaging, helping children become familiar with basic vocabulary, Chinese characters, and simple phrases.
 

Objectives
  • Learn Vocabulary:
    Students will learn essential Mandarin words related to everyday objects, colors, and common activities. For instance, they will become familiar with numbers (一, 二, 三), colors (红, 蓝, 绿), family members (爸爸, 妈妈), and animals (狗, 猫).

  • Develop Listening Skills:
    Students will recognize and understand simple phrases and commands through repetitive and engaging activities. This includes practicing greetings (你好) and understanding basic instructions (坐下).

  • Learn Chinese Characters:
    Students will recognize and trace simple Chinese characters, focusing on those corresponding to their learned vocabulary. For example, students will practice characters for numbers (一, 二, 三) and simple nouns(人,耳,口).

  • Encourage Pronunciation:
    Students will practice proper pronunciation of common phrases and words to build a strong spoken foundation. Emphasis will be placed on correct pronunciation and tone through playful exercises and interactive games.

  • Learn Verbal Communication:
    Students will develop listening and speaking skills, able to understand and respond to simple phrases and commands in Mandarin. For example, they will practice greetings (e.g., 你好), asking basic questions (e.g., 你好吗?), and simple responses (e.g., 我很好).

  • Foster Cultural Curiosity:
    Stories, songs, and activities will introduce basic elements of Chinese culture. Students will explore cultural themes such as traditional festivals and everyday life in China, enhancing their cultural understanding.
